What’s the ensemble cast?
We’re putting the call out for all young actors and singers to be part of the ensemble case of this fractured fairytale musical!
We’re looking for aspiring stars to be part of our townspeople as some beloved storybook characters work out what’s gone wrong in the land and how they can put their stories right again!
You won’t need to learn any lines (unless, you’re interested in having a speaking role) and the process won’t be terribly involved BUT we’d love for you to sing the opening and closing numbers with us if you’d like to.

What’s involved?
For now we’re inviting you to attend the preliminary open call on Saturday 5th April 11:30am at Hummingbird Music Studios . (If you can’t make that open call we have another option during the school holidays on Tuesday 15th April 9:30am) The full production will then involve one other ensemble only rehearsal as well as a dress rehearsal prior to the show.
For the most part the ensemble will largely make up most of the crowd scenes but if your child is feeling confident we’d love for them to join us in singing a couple of group songs in the show.
Are there age restrictions?
Not really but if you’ve ever been involved in these types of productions they can be quite exciting and bustling environments so we recommend ages 5-18 but if you have a younger child who you think might enjoy the process, let us know and we can make arrangements for them.
What if we want to have be part of the main cast?
If you’d like to have a speaking role or perhaps even have a main part, we’d love to include you! You can either attend the Saturday rehearsals from 10am - 11:30am or the Monday rehearsals from 6:15pm - 7:15pm. Click here to let us know and we’ll arrange it for you.
Does it cost anything?
Nope! I doesn’t cost anything to be part of the ensemble cast. We’d love to have any many people involved as would like to be involved as long as we can fit you all on stage :-) You ‘ll just have to arrange your own costumes but don’t worry, it won’t be anything elaborate. You’ll probably have most of it lying around in your cupboards. We’ll send you some guidelines closer to the show.
Show Details
When is the show?
The show will give a matinee performance on Sunday 6th July and will potentially add a second, early evening performance on Saturday 5th July at The Independant Theatre in North Sydney
When are the rehearsals?
The initial open call for ensemble with be Saturday 5th April 11:30am with a follow up rehearsal on Saturday 31st May 11:30am as well as a final dress rehearsal on 28th June (TBC)
What if we can’t make one the rehearsals?
Don’t worry! We’d still love for you to be in the show. Just let us know which you rehearsal you can’t make and we’ll try and catch you up at the next rehearsal. There isn’t much to learn so you’ll be fine.
